제목: From Schrödinger's cat to quantum technology using light

초록: Since Schrödinger suggested his famous cat paradox, where the "cat" was assumed to be in a quantum superposition of "alive" and "dead" states, it has been physicists' long dream to generate and observe macroscopic quantum superpositions. Recent progress in quantum optics has made it possible to implement so-called ''Schrödinger cat states'' of light, and it has also been found that these states can be useful for the next generation technology. In this talk, a general introduction to the basic principles and paradoxes in quantum mechanics will be given. I will then discuss how to generate "Schrödinger cat states" of light including a recent theoretical and experimental breakthrough, and how to use them for various applications in quantum information technology.
