Among the biochip applications, it is also admitted that protein chip systems on solid substrates require additional care for maintaining the structural integrity, compared to DNA chip applications which exhibit much better inertness upon exposure to various chemical environments. In this talk, accomplishments of our group in the protein chips developments will be introduced and several issues on the systems will be discussed. Furthermore, as a core technology of future biosensor and/or biochip application, synthesis and manipulation of metal nanocrystals (mostly noble metals) will be introduced in the same context.
