제목:  Organic Polymers as Nuclear Radiation Sensors

초록: Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNTDs) are insulating solids, both naturally occurring and manmade including inorganic crystals, glasses and plastics. They  combine the track recording features of  photographic emulsions and the single particle counting abilities of the semiconductor detectors while keeping permanent records that are unaffected by atmospheric conditions. The integrating nature of these detectors allow data (tracks) to be recorded over long periods of time. The recorded data can later be revealed at a convenient time, using simple chemicals for etching the tracks. As they do not involve any electronic accessories, there are no problems with electrical noise or breakdown during long term data acquisition. There is hardly any branch of science and technology where it does not have actual or potential applications.
