아래와 같이 세미나를 개최하오니 많이 참석해 주시기 바랍니다. 아 래 제목: Cooking up elements in the universe: Recent activities at HRIBF 연사: 채경육 박사 (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) 일시: 2009년 8월 11일(화) 오후 4:00~ 장소: 물리학과 세미나실(31355호실) 초록: Nuclear reactions in explosive stars such as novae, X-ray bursts, and supernovae are responsible for producing many of the elements that make up our world. Exotic nuclei not normally found on earth can play an important role in these events due to the extreme conditions that occur in the explosion. A frontier area of research involves utilizing beams of radioactive nuclei to improve our understanding of these explosions and the implications on cosmic element production. At the Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility(ORNL HRIBF), we measure astrophysically important reactions using exotic beams to probe the details of cosmic events. Details of HRIBF and recent experiments performed that are helping us better understand explosive stars will be presented.
