5. Abstract: Nonlinear interactions of light and material enable powerful controls for electromagnetic fields. One of the most important nonlinear phenomena is the frequency conversion from one color to another, which has many applications such as supercontinuum generation, soliton excitation and entangled photon pair generation. To observe these nonlinear effects, the photons need to be overlapped either in time or space scales. The former method is realized by pulsed lasers, and the latter one is achieved by optical cavities. In this talk, the on-chip micro cavities and their applications in nonlinear optics are discussed.
