제목: Quantum oscillations at the LHC
연사: 전 응 진 교수님 (고등과학원)

Neutrinos are most mysterious particles in Standard Model. Although as abundant as photons around us, they are most weakly interacting particles and thus it took about 70 years to understand their peculiar behaviors. Their masses are less than a millionth of the electron mass which are luckily in the right range to reveal an observational phenomenon of three-state oscillation, an elementary quantum mechanical behavior. Neutrinos might get tiny masses by an extended “Higgs mechanism” with a triplet boson which could exhibit another novel oscillation phenomenon through particle-antiparticle mixing. In this talk, we will review the history of neutrinos and discuss the LHC opportunity to find novel signals from the triplet oscillation effect.
