물리학과에서는 영국 옥스포드대 재료과학과 Jamie Warner교수님을 모시고 특별 세미나를 갖고자 합니다.
Jamie Warner교수님은 현재 옥스포드대학교에서 차세대 리더로  인정받고 있는그래핀 및 TEM 전문가로 지난 10년사이에만 110여건의 세계적 수준의 논문을 발표했으며 이중에 제일 저자 또는 교신 저자로 다수의 Science, Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Nano Letters (x4), Physical Review Letters, Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Materials 및 ACS Nano (x15) 논문을 발표하는 등 전세계가 주목하는 과학자입니다.

제목: Synthetic graphene at the atomic level

초록:Synthetic methods for producing large area single crystals of monolayer graphene are important if graphene is to fulfill its promise in applications. We have focused on using chemical vapour deposition to grow graphene on metal catalyst substrates, which is fast, cheap, scalable and effective. By understanding the factors that influence graphene domain size, we can optimize conditions to grow pure monolayer graphene with single crystal sizes exceeding 300 µm. I will talk about how we can perform structural studies of graphene with atomic resolution using Oxford’s JEOL 2200 HRTEM, equipped with probe and image spherical aberration correctors, and a monochromator. By achieving true sub-Angstrom resolution at an accelerating voltage of 80 kV, figure 1, we can study defects in graphene and provide the most accurate structural models of defects in graphene to date. We have explored the structural form of metal dopants in graphene and developed methods to manipulate graphene’s atomic structure with sub-10nm spatial accuracy. I will discuss how we transfer graphene to insulating substrates for device fabrication and the characterization of the electronic properties of our synthetic graphene and their implementation in opto-electronic applications.
