Title: From Static to Dynamic Multiferroics

Abstract: Multiferroics is a material in which multiple order parameters, such as electric polarization, magnetic polarization, elastic distortion, toroidal moment, etc. coexist and give rise to ferroic(or antiferroic) order in single phase. The first mutliferroics, where coexistence of electric polarization and antiferromagnetically ordered magnetic polarization is allowed by simultaneous symmetry breaking of both spatial inversion and time reversal, was proposed by Pierre Curie in 1894. In 1960, the order parameters’ cross coupling, so called magnetoelectric effect, was experimentally demonstrated. However, by 2003, when giant magnetoelectric effect was found in TbMnO3 and TbMn2O5, there has been few attentions on multiferroics. Since then, lots of studies on multiferroics have been performed up to now. In this talk, I introduce fundamentals of multferroics and present the recent research progress
