Title: Machine learning and statistical physics

Abstract: Machine learning extracts features in data with, or without, supervision for discriminating or generating new data. In this colloquium, I will introduce the basic algorithms for machine learning, particularly the Boltzmann machine, which is linked to statistical physics as the name indicates. If time allows, I will shortly present about our recent study with information theory on the internal representation of deep learning.
